In 2009, as part of the Massachusetts Recovery Plan and the Massachusetts Solar Stimulus, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) began investigating opportunities to install solar energy systems on its properties. The MWRA selected Zapotec Energy to be the primary construction manager and technical consultant, facilitating the design and construction initiatives. Zapotec performed design reviews, scheduling, documentation and construction supervision services. The first project involved the development of a 496 kW solar energy system at the John J. Carroll Water Treatment Plant in Marlborough, MA. The solar project was installed by Nexamp, Inc.
