Zapotec Welcomes Its 13th MassCEC Clean Energy InternCategory: Company News
Ishant Desai joins us this fall as Zapotec Energy’s latest MassCEC Clean Energy Intern. Originally from India, Ishant moved to the United States in 2011 to launch his academic career in clean energy. In 2015, Ishant earned his B.S. in Renewable Energy Engineering from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Now, he is working towards his M.S. in Energy Systems at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
Ishant comes to us with previous experience working in the solar industry. After finishing his undergraduate degree, Ishant completed two internships as a Solar Quality Engineer and an EPC Engineer at Sonali Solar, a solar module manufacturing company located in India. Ishant also has two years of experience working as a Solar Design Engineer at OneRoof Energy, Inc., a residential solar company based in San Diego, CA. During his time at OneRoof Energy, Ishant was able to design residential-scale solar PV systems for customers in California, New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts.
This semester, during his internship at Zapotec Energy, Ishant hopes to expand his knowledge of engineering and designing commercial-scale solar PV systems. Specifically, he plans to further develop his skills in creating models and financial analyses for a solar PV systems while exploring different options for equipment and materials.
The growth of solar energy technologies has inspired Ishant to further his career in the industry. “The integration of different renewable energy sources will allow us to conserve our natural resources for the next generation,” says Ishant. He strongly believes that “every problem has multiple solutions” and he is eager to contribute to solving the world’s energy crisis with a solution that “leads to a better tomorrow and a healthier tomorrow.”
