Spring MassCEC Intern, Arti Gupta, Joins Zapotec TeamCategory: Company News
Arti Gupta has joined Zapotec as a MASSCEC Clean Energy Intern. Arti has a strong background in nuclear energy. She had previously worked for four years as a Scientific Officer at the Department of Atomic Energy for the government of India. While working in the nuclear energy sector, Arti realized that even though nuclear energy is a source of clean-air energy, it is not an easily deployable sustainable energy source. Arti identifies nuclear projects as expensive projects with complex regulatory issues that face prolonged delays and shutdowns. Arti recognized the imminent need to implement sustainable energy sources and quit her job to learn about renewable energy in the United States.
Arti received her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Uttar Pradesh Technical University, India, and her master’s diploma in Nuclear Energy at Homi Bhabha National Institute, India. She is currently working toward a graduate degree in Renewable Energy at the University of Massachusetts – Lowell. Last year, Arti gained solar experience working as a solar design intern for Castillo Engineering for four months.
Arti was drawn to solar energy because it empowers people. She appreciates that solar energy allows homeowners or business owners an opportunity to reduce their own carbon footprint.
Arti hopes to learn more about the practical aspects of solar design, as well as the day-to-day issues of a solar photovoltaic system and how to mitigate them.
