Last week Zapotec performed an annual maintenance check for PV systems on four apartment buildings at Jefferson Park, a Cambridge Housing Authority apartment complex in North Cambridge. Boston Community Capital funded the design and construction of 89.76 kW of solar on these buildings in 2014.

 This year’s maintenance check included washing and scrubbing the 350 panels, securing electrical connections, clearing debris, as well as checking each systems’ operating current and voltage at the inverters.

Due to the structure of the roofs, the arrays must lay flat, but this creates a surface where dust and pollen can collect.  After the cleaning, there was an immediate increase in power generation.
