Cambridge City Council Congratulates MLK School and Partners on Solar PV System image

The City Council recently distributed a certificate of recognition, applauding the City of Cambridge’s Martin Luther King, Jr. School (MLK), as well as its many partners, including Zapotec Energy Inc., CivicSolar, Wayne J. Griffin Electric Inc., Sunpreme Inc., W.T. Rich, and In Posse, for each doing our part to install the school’s new solar photovoltaic (PV) system.

While the MLK School’s building design was already recognized as one of the most energy efficient in the United States, the new PV system has pushed its green status to a new level. In fact, the system qualified the project for an LEED Platinum certificate, the highest certification of the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) program. According to the City, this is a “tremendous honor to MLK School and the companies involved.” The City Council’s letter personally thanks all parties that worked on the PV system “for their commitment to sustainability and a net-zero mentality in the City.”

Zapotec Energy is proud to have had the opportunity to work on the MLK School project and with our colleagues in the solar industry. Not only has the MLK School set a strong example for the City of Cambridge, but it also helps raise the bar for all net-zero projects across the nation.
